Educational institutions have pressure from a number of external stakeholders to ensure they are compliant and offering the best and most up to date support systems to their students, from schools, colleges to further and higher education. At Welfare Way we know this pressure first hand and strive to ensure we can manage this risk for you. We offer a range of courses both face to face and online, examples include:

• Safeguarding international students
• Sexual harassment, misconduct and assault – what to do to prevent, protect and manage risk
• How to make successful and impactful referrals to external agencies
• Incels and online safety – how to deescalate the risk
• Emotional resilience – how can we teach students to bounce back
• Manage serious cases, ongoing risks and mitigate new presenting concerns as needed in the community.

We also offer a range of training packages designed to assist staff to deliver welfare, pastoral and safeguarding support which is specifically tailored to the needs of international students.

Community action is essential for us at Welfare Way. We know that communities feed into the support and protective factors for our young people, families, friends, and colleagues. We have therefore created our community action scheme where we encourage our corporate clients to sponsor community groups and look for ways to  effectively work together.

We can also create sessions for community groups where there is a high risk or vulnerability at a discounted rate to ensure life saving skills are shared as widely as possible. We deliver face-to-face training on all aspects of safeguarding compliance that is tailored to individual sectors and organisations. Packages include:

• Safer Recruitment aligned to your organisations recruiting practices
• Leadership & Management of safeguarding: what should this look like
• Quality assurance: auditing safeguarding for success
• Investigation skills (safeguarding incidents)

Mental Health awareness has grown over the last few years with many organisations working actively to tackle stigma and discrimination. We can support your journey by offering training to develop your skills in the field of mental health and wellbeing.

Our courses include:

• Introduction to mental health conditions and how to support them e.g., suicide, self-harm, psychosis
• How to create a care plan for a mental health diagnosis, staff, students, community focused
• Mental health first aid – youth/adult, half day, one day or two-day options available
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) two days

Our Adult or Youth Mental Heath First Aid (MHFA) courses can be delivered face-to face or online. Bespoke courses can be adapted to reflect the ages and type of student cohorts that you support.

The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is delivered as a 2 day course in many locations across the UK.

We also offer bespoke sessions based on contextual need at the client’s request.

With an expertise in Equality, Diversity and inclusion we are able to deliver a range of courses designed to support organisations in both the education and community sector examples include:
